baraa™, a word meaning "innocence" in Arabic, was born in 2009.
Designer Baraa Ben Boubaker Guillou's dream was to enhance Tunisian know-how to offer a timeless wardrobe with a contemporary freshness.
Evolving the weaving of Tunisian Hayek, summoning the wools and spirit of linen, using traditional weaves with soft, supple renderings, reviving natural dyes, cuts that allow all silhouettes to move freely and experience the Mediterranean every day in an elegant, uncluttered way...
Baraa quickly made a name for itself at numerous international trade shows and exhibitions, such as the prestigious Maisons et Objet in Paris, where its high-end positioning won it a loyal following among luxury clientele.
In 2010, thanks to its innovative approach to sustainable and ethical fashion, Baraa was the first Tunisian winner of the Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode competition in Marseille. This distinction opened up new prospects for her, in addition to the doors of the major Parisian fashion houses. Thus, in 2011, the baraa™ brand, noticed by Mme Leila Menchari, exclusive advisor to the house of "Hermès", called on her services, and her products found themselves in the window of the very famous "24 Faubourg Saint Honoré".
In the same year, buyers in avant-garde concept stores became interested in baraa™ collections, which found themselves sold in Japan in the boutiques of the very select "Galerie Vie - Tomorrowland" group, who commissioned an exclusive collection from her in 2014. In the following years, the success is confirmed and Baraa is distributed in ABC New York, Geneva, Paris.
baraa™ is more than a responsible brand. It cultivates slowness and the rightness of materials and cuts. It cherishes the work of Tunisian craftsmen and women, the last recipients of ancestral know-how.
