After graduating from Esmod, Lara khoury put her talent to work for Elie Saab in Beirut. In 2009, thanks to the support of Rabih kayrouz, she took the plunge and created her own brand, Lara khoury, followed in 2010 by her first collection.

"I learned my trade on the job, which is formi- dable, but being able to discuss and consult with professionals nurtured me. I was very excited to come and meet them, as I was to have my creations featured twice at Who's Next. My collections are very conceptual, very experimental. I like to choose raw materials that are new to the textile industry. Being able to show them beyond Lebanon to buyers from department stores like Galeries Lafayette at the MC21 showroom was an important step in the development of my work. These exchanges have confirmed me on the path I've chosen."
