MOTIVATION
The reason I'm taking part in the OpenMyMed prize is because I feel it's my responsibility as a Tunisian designer to present my work to an international audience and say that we have a lot of talent that needs to be heard. I want to represent Tunisian craftsmanship through my collection and motivate other Tunisian designers to show their work. I believe in support and in the value of working together. My goal is for Tunisia and the whole Maghreb to have a platform for their emerging and established designers where they can support each other and work together with European countries. Growing up between cultural differences, I know how difficult it is to fight prejudice. This award brings together people from different cultures and celebrates the passion we all share for fashion. It means a lot to me, not because of the win, but rather to have a voice that can be heard.
MMM VALUES (CRAFT TECH CARE & GIVE BACK):
Craft is an art form, coming from an artist who has experimented. The manufacturing of my collections is based in Tunisia. Not only do I want to support the Tunisian economy, I believe in our crafts and Tunisian craftsmanship. In the medina of Tunis, I work closely with artists who have inherited their crafts from their fathers and grandfathers, so crafts are part of my country's heritage. This shows that we, as Tunisians, are influenced by so many different cultures. This is what my brand represents. Each garment in my collection has a story to tell; made by artists with unique hands.
