EYMÈLE BURGAUD

MEDITERRANEAN FASHION PRIZE (MFP)

FRANCE

A Parisian with a doctorate in information and communication sciences from Celsa, Eymèle Burgaud lived in Singapore before choosing a completely different path: fashion. She graduated from Esmod in 2003, and spent a year working with John Galliano before launching her first collection in 2005. Three years later, she was awarded the Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris, and in 2010, her autumn-winter collection was exhibited in the French pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo.

"The Maison de la Création experience will remain one of the highlights of my career. It enabled me to get to know other young designers from all over the Mediterranean. We talked a lot together. A real complicity was born from our exchanges. When we create, we're alone. It's all the more enriching when you know that the professionals who took part in the program didn't limit their participation to a simple presentation; they took care to take a real interest in us, in our real concerns. Entrepreneurship in the fashion world is an adventure; it's exciting, but difficult. Managing to free up one week a month for a semester was no mean feat, but in the end, it was by no means a waste of time. On the contrary, it helped me to go faster and further.

Mediterranean Fashion Prize (MFP 2010-2018): a prize dedicated to designers from the Mediterranean basin, with a program of e-learning and expert guidance, leading to a week in Marseille with the entire graduating class.
