Hippolyte Romain is an artist, an illustrator, but also a sketcher of beautiful fashion stories, notably during haute couture presentations in Paris. It was Isabelle Bluzet, our press attaché at the time, who introduced me to this lover of Marseille: Hippolyte Romain. A complicity was immediately established. I invited him to illustrate the highlights of the Musée de la Mode's cultural program. The street inspires him, and he delicately sketches the colorful silhouettes of Marseilles women.
This free spirit with a sharp eye decided to challenge the fashion sphere, with the exhibition "Fashion is a circus!" Hippolyte offered me two large-format prints with a note: "Humor is the spice of fashion; many of our friends have done away with it, but we haven't! His drawings naturally took their place in my office. Then, in 2004, I was contacted by the Pediatric Department at La Timone Hospital, where Professors Guy Magalon and Jacques Bardot were looking for fashion posters to brighten up the department's walls. I suggested to Hippolyte Romain to donate his watercolors. Fashion and the circus leave my office for the children's hospital at La Timone.
