I absolutely had to meet this internationally renowned costume designer from Rue Neuve Sainte Catherine. A theatrical woman of rare sensitivity and modesty, she told me about her first Don Juan for the Aix-en-Provence Festival, her collaboration with the greatest stage directors Georges Wilson, Jean Vilar, Léonor Fini, and the couturiers of her generation Paco Rabanne, Hechter and Courrèges. A contentious woman of genius, she deconstructed established lines and invented a new body language based on simplified gestures for both streetwear and stagewear. Free the body to move with elegance! Just look at the pattern side by side with the finished garment and you'll see that Geneviève's inventiveness has taken the world by storm. Geneviève has been able to pass on her technique, breaking with the times by moving towards renewal. In her Marseille atelier, young fashion hopefuls have made their mark. The most famous is Fred Sathal, from Marseilles, who designed all the costumes for Notre Dame de Paris at the tender age of thirty.
